I don’t know about you but I am ecstatic about the recruiting haul that Mark Stoops and Company were able to bring in in just two months…Stoops was able to take the 67th best class in the nation and turn it into the 27th best class (and still growing) according to Rivals.com…but this afternoon I stumbled upon unquestionably the most shortsighted and the most ignorant article about UK Football I’ve ever seen, entitled “Kentucky Wildcats Can’t Compete In The SEC” by Daniel Ellington of Rant Sports.
Daniel proceeds to compare Kentucky Football to Auburn Football (Nick Saban smiles)…He talks about how Kentucky will never be a successful program because of their recruiting. Any other year I would probably agree with Ellington, but seriously Daniel? This is easily the worst year for you to write this story. Daniel obviously didn’t do his research…let me remind you that Kentucky was able to bring 8 four-star recruits in this class (UK brought in 6 during the last 3 years), and potentially 2 more this weekend. Daniel looks completely clueless after writing this story, but the best part is #BBN stepping up and ripping him apart in the comment section. Daniel, yes we were 12th in the SEC in recruiting (as of today), but I’ll take the 27th best class in the nation over 67th any day. To top it off, Daniel writes an article about Indiana’s recruiting class being better than they’ve had in years. According to Rivals, Indiana’s class is 41st. Daniel looks completely clueless, and is obviously baiting #BBN into reading it…so #BBN check out Daniel’s fact-less story. To say Kentucky isn’t recruiting with the big boys now is just ludicrous. Here is a list of big time recruits who Mark Stoops and Company were able to bring in to come play here…
Ryan Timmons — Cats beat out Ohio State and Florida
Jason Hatcher — Cats flipped him USC and beat out Louisville
Marcus McWilson — Cats flipped him from Nebraska
Zadarius Smith — Cats beat out Texas, Texas A&M and Auburn
Yeah, that’s not elite company now is it? Daniel, get your facts straight before you wake up the most passionate fan bases on the planet.
